CARDIFF, Wales, Jan. 22 A Cardiff, Wales, psychologist has designated Monday as the most depressing day of the year.Psychologist Cliff Arnall said he was driven to designate Jan. 22 as Blue Monday by mathematical equations that accounted for bad weather, debts from Christmas overspending and failure to keep New Year resolutions, The Independent reported Monday. Other experts expressed agreement with Arnall's assessment.The worst day has got to be a Monday -- there is other evidence to show it is the worst day of the week, said Phillip Hodson, a fellow of the British Association for Counseling. "Our bodies work on a 25-hour clock so that -- by the time we get to the weekend -- we stay up later. That makes it difficult for us to go to sleep on Sunday and we wake up grumpy.It's also got to be around this time of year -- we are less contented with our body image because we have been binging.Copyright 2007 by UPI
