Dhaka - The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has declared a night curfew along the 4,000 kilometre land border shared between India and Bangladesh, officials said Sunday. The night curfew was intended to dissuade unlawful border crossings and cross-border crimes such as human trafficking, arms smuggling and drug peddling, diplomatic sources said.
More than half the porous land border has been fenced by the Indian authorities while search lights were being routinely used by the BSF.
These measures for increased policing of the border were announced Sunday after a meeting between the chiefs of the paramilitary border forces of the two countries.
