The X-Factor-winning crooner Leona Lewis ended her four-week reign on the UK single charts after Lebanon-born singer-lyricist ousted her with his track
Grace Kelly to claim the top place on Sunday, figures released by chart tracker Official Charts Company said.
Lewis' cover of Kelly Clarkson's
A Moment Like This posted a steep fall to number six, even as Mika's track from the album
Life in Cartoon Motion climbed up two places riding on strong download sales.
The 23-year-old expressive Londoner is fast emerging as a singer to reckon with. Early January, he was voted the best newcomer in the
BBC's
Sound of 2007 poll, which has earlier picked winners like Corinne Bailey Rae, Chris Brown, Kaiser Chiefs, KT Tunstall, Razorlight, Scissor Sisters, rapper 50 Cent, and Sean Paul, who went on to built successful music careers.
Another musician who zoomed up the music charts on Sunday was rapper Just Jack, whose hit
Starz In Their Eyes notched up two positions to reach the second spot of the UK pop chart.
Yet another steep climb was that posted by Scottish band The View, whose
Same Jeans rose sharply from the eleventh position to the third spot. American singer actress JoJo's
Too Little Too Late gained two places to rest at number four, while Eric Prydz's
Proper Education won him the fifth rank. Among others who moved up fast were Jamie T and The Ordinary Boys, who with
Calm Down Dearest and
I Luv U jumped into the top 10 with seventh and ninth ranking respectively. Booty Luv's
Boogie 2nite rounded off the top 10 singles list.
As far as the albums chart went, soul crooner Amy Winehouse's
Back to Black remained at the top as did James Morrison's
Undiscovered at number two. With
Costello Music, Scottish indie band The Fratellis took over the third spot. At the fourth position was Irish band Snow Patrol with its album
Eyes Open, even as Anglo-Swedish quartet Razorlight's self-titled album closed the top five of the UK album charts.
