Beijing - Great Britain continued its powerful showing on the cycling track Monday, taking Olympic gold in the men's team pursuit event while Marianne Vos of the Netherlands won the women's cycling points race. The British team of Ed Clancy, Paul Manning, Thomas Geraint and the men's individual pursuit champion Bradley Wiggins defeated Denmark in the final at the Laoshan Velodrome with a time of 3 minutes 53.314 seconds for the 4,000 metre distance.

New Zealand beat Australia in the race for bronze.

Vos took Olympic gold in the women's points race, making up for a disappointing sixth-place finish in the road event.

World points race champion Vos claimed victory with a total of 30 points with silver going to Cuba's Yoanka Gonzalez on 18 and Spain's Leire Olaberria on 13 points.
