Copenhagen - Vicente del Bosque has started his reign as national manager of Spain by calling up a quartet of talented youngsters for Wednesday's friendly against Denmark. The four starlets are: Athletic Bilbao defenders Fernando Amorebieta and Andoni Iraola, Sevilla winger Diego Capel and Barcelona striker Bojan Krkic.
Bojan, of course, turned down the chance to be part of Spain's triumphant Euro 2008 squad, claiming to be exhausted after a promising debut season with Barca.
Del Bosque - who took over from Fenerbahce-bound hero Luis Aragones in July - is hoping that this young quartet will give Spain even more imagination and creativity.
"I am going to continue with the base that did so well at the European Championships," Del Bosque explained last Thursday when announcing his squad, "with the addition of a few new players."
The former Real Madrid coach added that "this is an important try- out match, before we start with the World Cup qualifying games."
Del Bosque has resisted the temptation to recall Real veteran Raul Gonzalez, who was controversially overlooked by Aragones since the 2006 World Cup finals.
The only two players dropped from Aragones' Euro 2008 squad are Liverpool defender Alvaro Arbeloa and Zaragoza forward Sergio Garcia.
Valencia defender Carlos Marchena and Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas are both injured.
Del Bosque's squad will come together in Madrid on Monday and fly out to Copenhagen on Tuesday.
