Beijing - Mongolia's Tuvshinbayar Naidan won gold in the men's 100-kilogram judo final Thursday, while in the women's 78kg event Yang Xiuli secured yet another gold for medal table toppers China. Naidan beat Askhat Zhitkeyev of Kazakhstan in the final by waza- ari to give Mongolia its first gold of the Beijing Games.

Azerbaijan's Movlud Miraliyev overcame Poland's Przemyslaw Matyjaszek in the first bronze medal match by waza-ari at the Beijing University of Science and Technology Gymnasium.

Henk Grol of the Netherlands also took bronze, beating Georgia's Levan Zhorzholiani by yuko.

Yang secured gold in the women's 78kg category by the narrowest of margins as she won the judges' vote 2-1 after her bout against Cuba's Yalennis Castillo was still level after five minutes of regulation time and the golden score period.

In the bronze medal matches, Edinanci Silva of Brazil lost to South Korea's Jeong Gyeongmi by ippon and Stephanie Possamai of France beat Spain's Esther San Miguel by waza-ari.

The judo concludes Friday with the men's +100kg and women's +78kg categories.
