Berlin - Former tennis great Boris Becker has said he aims to have children with the woman 16 years his junior he became engaged to over the weekend. Speaking to Wednesday's mass-circulation Bild newspaper, Becker said: "Having children of our own is definitely the plan. But Sandy is not yet expecting."

The 40-year-old former world number one became engaged to Alessandra Meyer-Woelden, 24, in Porto Cervo on the Italian island of Sardinia on Sunday.

Becker said he had known Meyer-Woelden, the daughter of his late manager, since she was 9 years old.

"We have no secrets. We are already a close family. It's a wonderful feeling," Becker told the paper.

He added that Meyer-Woelden had known his children since birth and had a good relationship with them.

Becker achieved international renown in 1985 when he became the youngest-ever winner of the Wimbledon's men's singles title at the age of 17. He went on to take six Grand Slam titles.

He was married for eight years to Barbara Becker, formerly Feltus, with whom he has sons Noah Gabriel, 14, and Elias Balthasar, 8. He also has a daughter Anna, 8, with Angela Ermakova.
