London - An eccentric Englishman nicknamed the "lonely hearts lord" for his futile efforts to find a wife through a lonely hearts column has put his title, property - and himself - up for sale on the internet, it was reported Wednesday. David Piper, a landowner who bought the title Lord of Warleigh, said he estimated that his country manor, title, land and two Bentleys would be worth up to 6 million pounds (12 million dollars).
The title Lord of the Manor can be worth up to 50,000 pounds, experts said. It does not mean that its holder is a peer - or member of the House of Lords - the upper house of parliament.
He would even include himself in the sale on eBay "to a suitable purchaser," said 58-year-old Piper, who decided to sell up after being diagnosed with prostate cancer.
