New York - Mary Kate Olsen issued a statement Tuesday denying any involvement in the death of actor Heath Ledger from an accidental drug overdose. The statement was released a day after the New York Post reported that Olsen refused to talk to investigators about the incident unless she was granted immunity.

The request sparked speculation that Olsen may have been culpable in some way for Ledger's death, with some reports alleging that police believed she may have helped him get Oxycontin and Vicodin painkillers without a prescription.

"Regarding the government's investigation, at Ms Olsen's request, we have provided the government with relevant information including facts in the chronology of events surrounding Mr Ledger's death and the fact that Ms Olsen does not know the source of the drugs Mr Ledger consumed," her lawyer Michael Miller said in the statement.

Ledger died on January 22 in his Manhattan apartment. Olsen was not present at the time, but she was the first person called after his housekeeper discovered Ledger's body. Olsen reportedly sent her bodyguards to check the scene before police were called.
