Hanoi - Vietnamese have turned over to the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) an US citizen of Vietnamese origin wanted for child sexual abuse, local media said Saturday. Dang Van Viet, 44-year-old man from the US state of Maryland, was transferred to the FBI at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday, according to Vietnam News Agency.
Viet is accused of having sexually abused an underage relative of his for ten years in Maryland. The FBI issued a warrant for his arrest in March, according to the news agency.
Viet was arrested by Vietnamese police in June this year while hiding in his hometown of Can Tho City, 170 kilometres south-west of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam News Agency said.
