LAGRANGEVILLE, N.Y., Jan. 19 Outsourcing professionals will soon be able to be certified online, the industry's trade organization and New York's Syracuse University said Friday. The International Association of Outsourcing Professionals and the university will launch a certification master class next month, association Executive Director Christina Powers and Syracuse Center for Business Information Technologies Director James Shea said. The four-day master class lets successful candidates earn half the points they need toward certification. The other half comes from training and education, such as a technical degree or an MBA, and practical experience.Syracuse developed the online format to mirror the classroom version so classes can be delivered anytime, anywhere in the world, Shea said.Certification is intended to protect a company's outsourcing non-core operations by maintaining and enforcing outsourcing standards of training and ethics. Many professional bodies perform professional certification to indicate a person possesses qualifications in the subject area. The outsourcing association has 40,000 corporate, professional and associate members worldwide.Copyright 2007 by UPI
