Paris - Spanish cyclist Moise Duenas was dropped from the Tour de France and taken into custody by police after testing positive for the blood-booster EPO, French media reported. After booting the 27-year-old Duenas out of the race, his Barloworld team also suspended him. The team's remaining seven riders were to remain in the race.
At the end of Monday's 10th stage, Duenas was 19th in the race standings, 6 minutes 43 seconds behind leader Cadel Evans of Australia.
Duenas is the second rider to have tested positive for EPO in this year's Tour. The Spanish Liquigas rider Manuel Beltran was dropped from the race after traces of EPO were found in his blood following the first stage of the race, on July 5.
Duenas tested positive for the banned substance, which increases the density of oxygen-carrying red blood cells, at the conclusion of the fourth stage, an individual time trial, on July 8.
