Vienna - The krocha, a new trend engulfing Vienna's nightclubs, has people donning caps and kicking their legs into the air. Adherents tend to be fans of Ed Hardy fashions. They also tend to wear lots of neon, keffiyeh scarves and sneakers. Headwear is usually a cap, either in neon colours or designed by Ed Hardy, covering a mullet hairstyle on most male fans.

Other trademarks include plucked eyebrows and studio tans, according to the Frankfurt-based Textilwirtschaft trade magazine.

The unifying element of the krocha scene is its music and its special dance style, wherein the dancer keeps one foot on the ground while swinging the other forwards or back and forth. While doing so, the dancer scoots across the floor on the grounded foot. If done right, it can look graceful.

But it requires a high level of physical fitness.

According to the magazine, the style spread from the Viennese nightclub Nachtschicht (Night Shift). The movement has developed its own slang and writing style.

Fans use the word "oida" at the start and finish of every sentence. The word "FiiX" - with its mix of lower and upper case - is used when a person is absolutely certain about something.
