Athens - Greece's Olympic Committee announced on Wednesday that it will send a record number of 147 athletes to the Beijing 2008 Olympics. Officials said that despite the record number of athletes, only four weightlifters will be included in the national team.
Greece's weightlifting team faced a scandal earlier this year after almost the entire men's and women's national teams had failed doping tests conducted by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
A total of 11 weightlifters had tested positive for banned substances and the scandal had thrown the weightlifting team's preparations for the upcoming Beijing Olympics into turmoil.
The Greek national team will compete in sailing, canoe-kayak, swimming, beach-volley, Tae Kwon Do, Judo, tennis, ping-pong, and slalom.
