Warsaw - The head of the Polish Football Association (PZPN), Michal Listkiewicz, intends remaining in office until the country's co-hosting of Euro 2012 with Ukraine despite earlier statements that he intended to resign. Listkiewicz told Tuesday's Gazeta Wyborcza newspaper that he will run again for the post of president of the PZPN in order to ensure that preparations for Euro 2012 continue on schedule.

Earlier this month UEFA president Michel Platini gave Ukraine and Poland three months to prove their preparations for hosting the event were on track.

Listkiewicz announced in April of this year that he, along with the entire PZPN board, would resign on September 14, and would not seek re-election.

He admitted to failure in the fight against corruption in Polish football. Listkiewicz has been in charge of the PZPN since June 1999 and has had to deal with a huge corruption affair that involved 29 teams and resulted in charges against over 120 coaches, referees, players and officials.
