Los Angeles - Comic superstars Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell are teaming up as Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson in a new comedy inspired by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's tales of the brilliant pipe-smoking detective and his ever-present partner in crime solving. The movie will be directed by Jud Apatow and written by Etan Cohen, whose recent work included the Ben Stiller movie Tropic Thunder, according to trade paper Variety.
"Just the idea of Sacha and Will as Sherlock Holmes and Watson makes us laugh," said Columbia studio co-president Matt Tolmach. "Sacha and Will are two of the funniest and most talented guys on the planet, and having them take on these two iconic characters is frankly hilarious."
The stars last acted together in Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, for which they won an MTV Movie Award for Best Kiss.
