BRUSSELS, Jan. 18 The Secretary of the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy met with officials in Brussels and Amsterdam to develop joint wind power projects.According to the European Wind Energy Association, Secretary V. Subramanian, and more than 20 high-level representatives from Indian wind energy met to further develop the collaboration between Europe and India.On the agenda were joint projects and exchanges of practices and other knowledge of financing, technology and grid integration.Most of the large European wind energy companies, both manufacturers and developers have a strong interest in the Indian market and this mission has contributed to increase the links, said Bruce Douglas, chief operating officer for the EWEA. Many of our member companies are already present in India and many of them have expansion plans for the coming years, following the general trend that non-EU markets will grow.The visit was cosponsored by the EWEA, the Energy Center of the Netherlands and the Confederation of Indian IndustryFor the last five years, India has been the fastest growing wind energy market. We are looking for horizontal cooperation with Europe to continue growing, Subramanian said. In addition to talks with the sponsoring groups, the European Commission suggested the idea of more financing for future European-Indian projects.Copyright 2007 by UPI
