Madrid - Spanish football club Villarreal confirmed on Wednesday that veteran striker Jon Dahl Tomasson was being allowed to return to Dutch side Feyenoord on a free transfer. Tomasson, 31, has spent most of the past two seasons on the bench at Villarreal, who finished second in La Liga last season.
The veteran Dane joined Villarreal fron Germany's VfB Stuttgart in January 2007, but struggled to earn a place in Manuel Pellegrini's starting lineup in the face of fierce competition.
Tomasson was a free-scoring hero for Feyenoord from 1998 to 2002, helping them to win the UEFA Cup in 2002 before signing for AC Milan.
Villarreal have also confirmed the signing of Argentine veteran playmaker Ariel Ibagaza, 31, from Mallorca for an undisclosed fee.
