Amsterdam - The Dutch government Thursday advised its citizens not to travel to Zimbabwe where disputed presidential elections are being held. A statement released by the Foreign Ministry said the government was concerned about security during and after Friday's vote.

There are some 600 Dutch nationals in Zimbabwe, all of whom have been notified of the recommendation and asked to provide the embassy in Harare with their contact details.

No incidents involving Dutch nationals have been reported in Zimbabwe so far.

The Dutch embassy has been providing shelter to opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai, who pulled out of the election against incumbent Robert Mugabe, citing safety fears for opposition voters.
