Hanoi - At least four people, including three military officers and a civilian, were killed and five others injured in a shooting spree at an army compound in Vietnam's capital city of Hanoi, local media reported Tuesday. Military officer Nguyen Manh Hung, 23, shot dead three of his comrades and a civilian at a military camp in Dong Da district on Monday night after he was accused of stealing a mobile phone, according to news website VnExpress.

The website said Hung also shot and seriously injured five other people before killing himself with the same rifle.

"I was watching TV when I heard the noise, but I thought one of my neighbours was drilling the wall," a witness was quoted as saying.

Witnesses said the area was barricaded and several ambulances arrived shortly after the shooting, according to VnExpress.

A witness wrote on his internet blog that Hung used a Russian-made AK47 rifle in the shooting.

VnExpress said authorities are investigating the case.
