Berlin - Nan Hoover, a New York born pioneer of video art, has died in the German capital Berlin at the age of 77, her website and her agent Rene Schmitt said Sunday in Frankfurt. Hoover's funeral would take place Monday, seven days after her death. A painter and photographer, her exploration of video art led many to compare her with the South Korean pioneer in the field Nam June Paik. She moved to Amsterdam in 1969 and had lived in Berlin, which is now a centre of contemporary art, since 2005. Her work has been shown in the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam and other top art galleries.
