Continental Airlines to cut 3,000 jobs

(Reuters) - Continental Airlines Inc said on Thursday it will cut 3,000 jobs and that the company's chief executive and president will decline their salaries for the remainder of the year.The airline also said it would reduce capacity and trim 67 mainline aircraft from its fleet.The announcement follows a similar move on Wednesday from United Airlines. UAL Corp , United Airlines's parent, said it would slash its work force and domestic fleet, following similar cuts by rivals as the industry grapples with soaring fuel costs and a weakening economy.
