Santander, Spain - Spain midfielder Andres Iniesta will miss Wednesday's Euro 2008 warm-up match against the United States in Santander, the Spanish football federation announced on Tuesday. The player midfielder is suffering from an uncomfortable bout of gastro-entiritis, and will be out of action for at least two days.
Iniesta's goals were fundamental in helping Spain to qualify for Euro 2008, and he will almost certainly be part of Luis Aragones' starting lineup in Austria and Switzerland.
His place on Wednesday will be taken by Arsenal youngster Cesc Fabregas, with Marcos Senna of Villarreal probably coming in for Xabi Alonso, who turned in a disappointing display in Saturday's 2-1 defeat of Peru.
Aragones is also considering bringing in defender Raul Albiol for Valencia team-mate Carlos Marchena, whose error was responsible for Peru's goal.
The US clash will be Spain's last friendly before leaving for Austria. They begin their Euro 2008 campaign on June 10 against Russia in Innsbruck.
US national manager Bob Bradley, for his part, will have to get by without injury victims Landon Donovan and Jonathan Spector.
