Mexico City - Santos Laguna won the Mexican Clausura football championship Sunday, beating Cruz Azul 3-2 on aggregate in the final. Before 16,000 spectators at the Victoria stadium in the city of Torreon, Santos Laguna drew 1-1 with Cruz Azul with a goal from Daniel Luduena in the 16th minute that Cruz Azul could only respond to eight minutes from time through Jaime Lozano.
The game was played in very hot weather, with a temperature of 43 degrees Celsius.
On Thursday, Santos had beaten Cruz Azul 2-1 in Mexico City.
This is Santos Laguna's third Mexican title.
