Athens - Three people were injured on Wednesday following clashes between rival student unions outside a university in the Greek capital in protest of education reforms, reports said. Police said a group of students hurled rocks and petrol bombs at opposing student groups outside a university at the capital's port of Pireaus.

Similar clashes were also reported in the northern port city of Thessaloniki were the dean was injured in clashes with students.

Three people were taken to hospital with injuries, including the dean in Thessaloniki.

The clashes, carried out by leftist student groups opposed to education reforms by the conservative government, are trying to disrupt elections for academic posts.
