Washington - Czech President Vaclav Klaus said Tuesday he is ready to debate Al Gore about global warming, as he presented the English version of his latest book that argues environmentalism poses a threat to basic human freedoms. "I many times tried to talk to have a public exchange of views with him, and he's not too much willing to make such a conversation," Klaus said. "So I'm ready to do it."

Klaus was speaking a the National Press Building in Washington to present his new book, Blue Planet in Green Shackles - What Is Endangered: Climate or Freedom?, before meeting with Vice President Dick Cheney Wednesday.

"My answer is it is our freedom and, I might add, and our prosperity," he said.

Gore a former US vice president who has become a leading international voice in the cause against global warming, was co-winner of this year's Nobel Peace Prize. Gore's effort was highlighted by his Oscar winning documentary film An Inconvienent Truth.

Klaus, an economist, said he opposed the "climate alarmism" perpetuated by environmentalism trying to impose their ideals, comparing it to the decades of communist rule he experienced growing up in Soviet-dominated Czechoslovakia.

"Like their (communist) predecessors, they will be certain that they have the right to sacrifice man and his freedom to make their idea reality," he said.

"In the past, it was in the name of the Marxists or of the proletariat - this time, in the name of the planet," he added.

Klaus said a free market should be used to address environmental concerns and said he oppposed as unrealistic regulations or greenhouse gas capping systems designed to reduce the impact of climate change.

"It could be even true that we are now at a stage where mere facts, reason and truths are powerless in the face of the global warming propaganda," he said.

Klaus alleged that the global warming was being championed by scientists and other environmentalists whose careers and funding requires selling the public on global warming.

"It is in the hands of climatologists and other related scientists who are highly motivated to look in one direction only," Klaus said.

I'm glad that Gore is finally taking a stand... At least to try and defend his actions and statements from An Inonvenient Truth

Extremists
By: Drona K , Tue, 17 Jun 2008 16:21:30 GMT

It is humorous to see liberals wholeheartedly accept Global Warming and Conservatives absolutely deny Global Warming based on party lines. Global Warming is a Theory/Hypothesis with some evidence but it is not proven or disproven yet. This is why scientists are debating this - although most are accepting it as the explanation for the limited data. As we know from history, theories are modified and changed as more data becomes available. Generally, abnormal data raises a red flag and that means something is not right. This is the situation we face with this climate change issue. However, this may be a transient phenomenon, part of a cyclical phenomenon, or maybe just the normal course of events. We will be certain in just a few thousands (perhaps hundreds of thousands) of years.

In the mean time it makes sense to be clean. Look at factory areas in the third world where there are no emission standards. They are filthy.

It also makes sense not to make industry too expensive to stay in business.

A balance between the two would work out the best.

Travesty of major proportions
By: Al Rodriguez , Sat, 07 Jun 2008 18:53:08 GMT

I could not agree more with President Klaus. A perfect example of this is the Lieberman-Warner Bill, which President Bush has vowed to veto, if it ever makes it to his desk. I look forward to reading President Klaus's new book.

A Serious Subject
By: Matt , Thu, 05 Jun 2008 13:21:13 GMT

just a thought...
if there is this much argument and "hysteria" about GW, there might be some iota of truth in it. then again, it could just be that with our new technologies, we are able to see changes in the earth that we weren't able to see before, and climate change is just a natural thing.

Gore Debate
By: Chet Seapy , Mon, 02 Jun 2008 06:14:06 GMT

Good luck trying to get that boob Gore together for a debate. He too busy flying around the world in his "non-green" jet. How does Gore and all the other alarmist explain the warming climate on mars. Are they going to blame it on the rovers?

Global Warming
By: Roger , Sun, 01 Jun 2008 19:16:45 GMT

It is about time someone stood up and told the world that we not only lose our freedom but our independance. Al Gore is one that only cases about himself and what power he can garner over others, not to help the world. He along with his other left wing nuts like George Soros want power and they will never stop until they have power over you.

Global Warming BS
By: JayMar , Sun, 01 Jun 2008 10:44:30 GMT

I remember not long ago (in the 60's) it was global cooling. The environmentalists are way too powerful even with their weird science. The majority of the people are just simply sheep looking to be lead, thus they fall prey to Comrade Gore and the members of his Praesidium. When the blind salamander, the angora elkhorn, and the polar bear takes precedence over humans, something has to change.

Taxes
By: robert sterling , Sun, 01 Jun 2008 06:14:33 GMT

The Anthropogenic global warming believers want us to pay more taxes and implement more regulations in an effort to "fix" the climate. Since we the people will be the ones paying for this, when will we see the results of our investment? What evidence will there be to show that the climate is "fixed?"

President Klaus
By: Elda , Sun, 01 Jun 2008 05:30:52 GMT

How in the world do you debate a pathological liar? The liar has the full use of his/her imagination to come up with whopping big lies, they just take a simple truth like the earth has warmed by .00002% in the last 20 years and wrap an enormous lie around it like humans are responsible and you have the makings of great debate fodder. Where as, the truth simply cannot be embellished in any way or it becomes a lie. Gore can no more tell the complete truth than Bill and Hillary Clinton or Obama. It simply is not who they are and to debate them is ridicules. So President Klaus, I know what you say is true, just don’t try to come between a Liberal and his or her cash cow. They are pathological lying narcissists and you will not win even if you win the debate. Please don’t give up on the rest of us who understand and appreciate your effort to stop the cry of “ The sky is falling”.

Global Warming, SHS Hysteria, all the same thing
By: Jason , Sat, 31 May 2008 20:00:04 GMT

The Global Warming fear-mongering as a way to consolidate control and further tighten the yoke was more than likely an outgrowth of the SHS ("second-hand-smoke") hysteria that came before it.

When that one when it proved so successful in scaring people into tighter regulations and controls to the point of thinking outdoor smoke-bans "normal" and relinquishing the concept of private property rights, turning them into “public” “rights”, the initial social experiment in how to further the growth of a world-wide government was born.

Once you get people moving in that direction and throwing a blind eye out of prejudice and fear, in that case pharmaceutical companies paying the tab for correlation “studies” that were also disputable and lacked probability and fell into low confidence levels - and "studies" being dubious in itself since most were based on what amounted to "opinion polls" based on foggy memories conjured by prejudice - you now end up with the modus-operandi for how the Nu Marxism is to be initiated – packaged and sold – through fear, prejudice and eventual capitulation by the populations being brought under control.

There’s more to a lot of these “debates” like the one on Global Warming idea than meets the eye – and the more sinister undertones are overlooked on purpose by the “news” media these days who of course prospers from the advertising revenues – such as all the pharmaceutical/drug ads their SHS mongering produced – this one to create profit in “green” advertising and public posturing all companies will now need to pay for – in order to comply with the Nu Agenda – make themselves look politically correct enough.

It’s so ironic that a major executive of the Sierra Club environmental group fore-sworn to the good of the environment, and by association for the “good of ‘the people’” – that this same person ended up privately creating the public relations campaign to sell WalMart as a “green” and “responsible” corporation – which lead to WalMart forcing under-paid employees to “volunteer” for free on their own time at the drop of a hat anytime the company needed a sudden Public Relations boost – while visibly forcing out all union organizing attempts, including shutting down entire stores if a union got too close to evolving.

Walmart went on to let employee rest-areas turn into dismal, dreary spots with burned out light bulbs, filthy conditions, and even went so far as to dictate to employees not to drink, smoke or eat anything “unhealthy” outside company time – intimidations – but “good” for “the people” – and this perpetuated by the “genius” of a clever Sierra Club executive who literally earned several million dollars for his “good” actions.

The Global Warming “scare” is just more of the same – along the same lines as previously successful campaigns, to replace the nature of private rights with those of public take-over and for the “good of the people”.

Communist countries were always doing something “good” “for the people”.

Al Gore just reeks of more of the same mindedness – especially when some scientists in disagreement with the Global Warming idea have not only been shut out of by the “news” media entire, but some even received death threats as has been reported in Europe.

Global Warming
By: Steven , Sat, 31 May 2008 03:00:22 GMT

It is great to see a leader of a country stand up and say that the data is just not there to agree with Al Gore's cronies. Of course it makes sense to take good care of the Earth but why do some people blame everything on people? In Freiman's book Current Events, Conservative Outcomes he states the next great climatic event to threaten our species is that of a serious cooling cycle. The scientist don't agree on weather global warming is man made or in some cases even real? I say follow the money trail. Who is making money off the global warming alarm? Doesn't Al Gore own a company that sells carbon credits? Don't the scientist get paid by gloabal warming funding? Hmmmmmmm

Well Said Mr. Klaus
By: M. Godek , Fri, 30 May 2008 22:53:04 GMT

Well said Mr. Klaus. Another point is that these kind of international agreement can lessen the sovereigns power of the individual states.

Of course, we as sovereign citizens can say "Us Washingtonians do not want anything to do with that agreement". I believe, to make it valid on the state level it would have to be ratified by the citizens of the said state...since we are a sovereign entity. Furthermore, we should not be having dope heads like Gore dictating supposed policy for the United States. Mr Klaus is right, this reeks of socialism, and those that want to consolidate power.

Energy savings increases discposable income, how is that destructive?
By: Noneya , Fri, 30 May 2008 22:26:11 GMT

Honestly Global Warming deniers make me think the world isn't worth saving sometimes. What freedoms will be taken away? How is making cars and trucks more efficient harmful to the econemy that has been put on pins and needles because of the raising gas prices. In what way is becoming energy independent and tapping into the 3,000,000,000,000 global energy market as more than just a consumer but a producer in any way detrimental to our gdp? Right now energy costs represent nearly twenty percent of our gpd. That' a rediculous sum that is being poured overseas by channeling our efforts and dollars into good clean domestic prodcution we can do more than just reduce our costs we can create a better healthier energy infrastructure and leave ourselves with an econemy that is far stronger as it no longer sits atop the vascilating oil commodities market.

It's ironic it takes someone who lived in a former Soviet-controlled area, Eastern Europe, to understand free markets and freedom so well. Anti-growth environmentalism favors huge growth in goverment and "global warming" allows them to do so. If only our politicians, especially the Republicans had the smarts and nerve to go against the trend. Dick Cheney will no longer be vice president in 2009 and even John McCain is big on cap and trade policies that will hurt America, not to mention what HO-BAMA would bring us.

RE: Brain Power
By: Clarity , Fri, 30 May 2008 17:07:53 GMT

"This is an absolutely classic example of someone who can’t or refuses to look more than 5 minutes into the future.Yeah man we can get all the resources we need right here in the good old USA but they are FINITE meaning they WILL NOT last forever. So yes we can go and dig up our wildlands, mine the national parks, and dig up all of Alaska, but what happens when we use all of those resources too."

Right. You clearly don't realize that the sheer amount of oil under American soil could sustain this country for much, much longer than the 5 minutes you quote. Other energy sources must be discovered, but this takes TIME- time that should be spent using the resources this country has rather than relying on Middle Eastern interests.

Unless you enjoy being forced to poke our noses into the Middle East's business simply to get a product we already have but are unwilling to use because people like you don't understand what actually goes into drilling for oil. This actually requires foresight, and should have been implemented years ago.

Nuclear power, wind power- it's the left who opposes these proven sources of power because of one reason or another, the foremost being complete ignorance. Which you display quite well.

"Oh and people were starving before GW became and issue, my god man do you honestly think that research into climate change is the reason for world hunger"

You have the reading comprehension of a fourth grader. The research itself isn't starving people, "bud", it's the sheer amount of money that would be better spent on REAL problems instead of "global warming". But I don't expect you to actually get that- you're too busy thinking "5 minutes into the future", when your time would be better spent understanding facts in the here and now.

US Senate rejected Kyoto
By: Hobart , Fri, 30 May 2008 06:31:42 GMT

Who remembers the US Senate vote in 1997 under Bill Clinton and Al Gore? With the Byrd-Hagel resolution the Senate REJECTED the Kyoto treaty by a bi-partisan vote of 95 - 0! That's right, Dems and Repubs backed each other and told old Billy Jeff to STUFF IT in his pants, if possible.

GO Andy O
By: Hobart , Fri, 30 May 2008 06:25:45 GMT

One more statistic Andy: The total CO2 attributed to human activity in one year, about 8 billion tons, represents only 1 millionth of the total mass of Earth's atmosphere! One part per million at today's rate, a few parts per BILLION a hundred years ago. Those minuscule amounts will not generate nor sustain a centuries-long global climate change! They're just too SMALL! We just don't make THAT much CO2 compared to how BIG the Earth's atmosphere is.

Correction re Klaus' Speech
By: Mary McCann , Fri, 30 May 2008 03:37:53 GMT

A Response of Sorts
By: BRAIN POWER , Thu, 29 May 2008 22:35:32 GMT

And this is where you all miss the point

I DON’T BELIEVE IN HUMAN INDUCED WARMING

I do believe that companies should be held accountable for what they spew into the air. I believe there are better methods to gas guzzling engines and I didn’t say biofuels cause that is not going to work either. All I am saying is that the Argument of human induced warming has led people to complacency. Because all you idiots say you don’t believe in human induced warming and your using it as an excuse to do what you want, when you want, waste when you wanna waste, whenever you please.

Lets look at some of the comments made toward my post

Tank: Most of the things you call "good policy" are in fact horrible policy based upon emotion and muddy thinking. As long as you treat "environmentalism" as a religion, you won't come up with workable ideas, just "feel good" stuff that in many cases will make things worse with unintended consequences because you don't think things through.

So making sure companies can’t release whatever they want into the air is horrible policy based on emotion. And trying to move away from foreign oil and make our cars more fuel efficient, that is a bad idea right? You are such a dolt is boggles my mind. Tell me, what will YOU do when gas costs $10 a gallon (take into account inflation)? Yeah it might not be in your lifetime but what will we do when this country can’t afford to get to work. The correct answer is find a new way to get around without using tons of gas…many people in America are already unable to drive to work and we are only at $4. What will you do when our cities have the same pollution levels as bejing? Or Greater? Would you think it would be a good idea to limit what these companies spew out (and I’m not talking about co2 here) if you had to wear a mask in the streets. Or would that be too much govt control for you? Hey let the free market reign right???

And you all say “Gore isn’t a scientist so what does he know”. Well neither is Klaus my friends. Personally I think they are both complete idiots.

MRM: Wow Brain Power (& to a lesser extent Solange) seems you really missed the point of his speach. I did not so much hear Klaus downing GOOD POLICY. His point was comparing the movement to Marxism.... which (at it's core) seems to be what it is. And he should know. Unlike you or I who have only looked at Marxism from the outside, he has seen it from the inside out. I laugh when I hear school kids and teens ask "what is wrong with Marxism/Communism?" On the surface, it seems just like "one big happy family" where the government takes care of us all. And the empty shelves and food rationing of the former Soviet Union were things that those who lived under Marxist rule just "loved" waking up to everyday.

"To each according to his need; From each according to his ability" Doesn't it just sound nice and "fair".

I am about protecting the envoriment. I am about encouraging industry to develop alternatives. But the solution is not government mandates. Get the government out of the way. The policies and government have never produced anything, they just pile on more restrictions to our lives.

So creating more "rules" about how to live our lives is not the solution. Get off the backs of those who could really get it done. Is there a problem, Maybe, but It aint going to be the government that solves the "problem".

MRM, I like the points you made but I just wanna mention a couple things. I understand Klaus’ arguments but quite frankly I was not addressing what HE said but more about the issue of human induced warming. I completely agree with your “one big happy family” notion. Its ignorant to think that the govt cant take care of us and it will all work out but it is EQUALLY IGNORANT to think that companies will just regulate themselves and even more ignorant to think that we could all just live in harmony without government. There is a happy medium to be had here but in terms of companies regulating themselves, they have absolutely no incentive to do so. This is why the govt. outlawed monopolies because one company controlling everything couldn’t be trusted to have competitive prices or be fair in their practices. Companies will lose money in the short term by doing this until it becomes common place across the industry and their stock holders and leadership will do everything they can to prevent those loses from happening. You really think these companies would regulate themselves without state or federal intervention. The only way I could see these companies doing this is through public outcry…and maybe our cities getting degraded to the point of them being bejing-like is just the thing to get the people to say “that’s enough”. Companies regulating themselves, sounds good in theory, but just wont work (sound familiar, just like Marxism, might sound good in theory but wont work)

Ozark Sunshine: Brainless Power and others who buy the bull - A new Report that has been released by the University of Oregon and over 32,000 of scientists, over 9000 with Phds, signing it saying there is no such thing as man made global warming. Unlike the UNs 660 bought and paid for scientists and Al Bores wanting to line his pockets with carbon offset money from you, these are scientists who are standing up and being counted against this fraud. It's all about money so follow the paper trail. The environmentalists want to shove their moneymaking agenda down others throat while most don't even follow their own suggestions. As an engineer and scientist I have studied this subject very factually and carefully, not using articles written by journalists with an agenda, but real science papers and conclude it is a farce just like your liberal left movements. Loo at solar flares/activities, volcanic activities, plates shifting beneath the earth releasing gases. How about the fact that CO2 increases AFTER temperatures rise some? How about the fact that Greenland was once actually green? You talk facts and leave out the emotion and maybe you can see clearer.

Well this response has absolutely NOTHING to do with what I was saying cause I don’t believe in human induced warming anyway. I would expect and engineer and scientist to be able to read a bit more carefully. How about the fact that the continents used to all be smashed together? Exactly…your points have nothing to do with anything…great!

Clarity: BRAIN POWER writes: BECAUSE EVERY SINGLE REPORTED SOLUTION TO GLOBAL WARMING IS SIMPLY GOOD POLICY ANYWAY.

Right. I mean, EA85 ethanol only starves the world's poor and reduces fuel efficiency! It's GREAT policy!

In fact, the US not actually using it's own natural resources because of environmental wackjobs trying to protect polar bears is PERFECT policy! Let's face it, forcing US citizens to involve themselves in the politics of the Middle East simply because drilling in Alaska or other parts of the country might me detrimental to the breeding habits of migratory birds is the very definition of good policy.

At this point, I'd like to pause and say that when someone uses an argument such as Mr. Brain Power is doing, it only points to the obvious: wasting billions on proving the farce of global warming is starving people, creating more government control and raising the cost of everything we buy- from cars to bananas- all in the name of protecting people from themselves.

Get a clue.

I don’t think ethanol is the answer but I like the fact that we took the initiative to research the subject and determine that it wasn’t viable. This is an absolutely classic example of someone who can’t or refuses to look more than 5 minutes into the future. Yeah man we can get all the resources we need right here in the good old USA but they are FINITE meaning they WILL NOT last forever. So yes we can go and dig up our wildlands, mine the national parks, and dig up all of Alaska, but what happens when we use all of those resources too. The answer of course will be to find other means to power or run our country. But this burden will be on our children’s children, not us. So yes we can keep doing what were doing and I guess it boils down to weather or not you care about preserving the natural integrity of our country. The point is we WILL be in the same boat at some point if we follow your “ideas” and we will have destroyed the natural world around us in the process (so basically your saying lets destroy the natural world around us just to end up in the same place we started…sounds great!!!)….just like we couldn’t possibly predict what co2 could do to climate we couldn’t possibly understand the effects of total deforestation and exploitation of this planet. So actually, you get a clue there bud. Oh and people were starving before GW became and issue, my god man do you honestly think that research into climate change is the reason for world hunger….oh my god…unreal!

Climate Change Church = C3 = C02 = $$$
By: J G , Thu, 29 May 2008 20:59:34 GMT

The Climate Change Church has a very simple formula and Klaus has hit the nail on the head, it is all about fundraising, grant money. This money is raised through fear mongering, scare tactics and stealth taxes (especially in the UK). The money never goes towards anything beneficial to the environment such as planting trees or planting habitats, only to create new bureaucratic government institutions to tax and spend our money while restricting our freedoms and create more hot air from the mouths of the liberal elites who want to keep us out of our cars and off planes so they have more room in their ski resorts and beach villas. Thank you Mr Klaus for speaking for the people!

John Adams wrote:

Exactly. It's always been about control- control the politicians have over us, and the control that the yuppie scum elite feel that they have over the environment. These people are so woefully meaningless to the grand scheme of this planet that the one of the only ways that they can feel meaningful is by overpaying for a hybrid and tsk-tsking anyone who DARE purchase an SUV.

It would be funny if it weren't so damn dangerous.

CO2 and Other Pollutants????
By: A. Rising , Thu, 29 May 2008 14:17:42 GMT

If increased CO2 caused the earth to warm -- then why is Mars frozen? The earth has a very small amount of CO2 compared to Mars -- which is about 98%. Yet, Mars is a frozen planet. Common sense tells me that the placement of the planet within the Solar System and the amount of the Sun's rays that reaches a planet determines the amount of heat the planet receives. CO2 has nothing to do with any of it.

It is quite amusing really, that some would even begin to think that we (humans) could have any effect on our climate. I'm certain that future generations will look back on us as total idiots for believing such garbage.

I agree with Mr. Klaus -- thanks for having the guts to tell the truth. Thank you Mr. Klaus.

Finally
By: Sumy Schick , Thu, 29 May 2008 13:41:01 GMT

Truly, this needs to happen in the public sphere far more often. And the place it should start above all is the classroom. Even if a debate and/or film is made, and a wonderful one was already made a few years ago on BBC, the press will hush it as much as they can. Manage to get these messages inside the schools, and you will get a desirable ripple effect.

Bravo!
By: Walter S , Thu, 29 May 2008 13:03:21 GMT

Environmental nut jobs would have most of us living in caves, whilst they, themselves, trumpet their holier-than-thou Global Warming/Climate Change religion and worship at the feet of their high priest, AlGore. After all, they'd have you believe, they're the only ones who care for Mother Earth. Anyone not in their camp is pronounced an anti eco-leper fit only to be segregated from them until we slobberingly surrender to their empty-headed prattling.
Green Peacers, tree huggers, environmentalist whack jobs, and whatever else they may be called are, quite simply, intolerant of any other opinion. Talk of their being no such thing as that they claim prompts such silly queries as, "Don't you care about the planet?" Fools that they are, they've no idea that the rest of us really do care...it's just not our religion.
Earth endured an explosion from a celestial body that, we're told, wiped out the dinosaurs millions of years ago. In Tunguska a meteor wiped out thousands upon thousands of trees, massive amounts of vegetation, untold wild life, and also choked portions of the surrounding air. Vesuvius erupted and spewed untold tons of debris and atmosphere-choking gases. Krakatoa's eruption was heard thousands of miles away, while sending volcanic ash into our atmosphere and other toxic gases. Mount St. Helens was notable for its spectacular pyrotechnics, poisonous gases, volcanic ash, flooding, and the effect it had on our climate.
Who knows how many other such events earth has suffered through and it's still here. Do the enviro-nuts honestly believe that your or my carbon footprint matters a whit in comparison to the violent and murderous events earth has endured?
BRAVO to President Klaus! As one who suffered at the hands GW/CC mirror image, he certainly knows whereof he speaks.

One has to wonder....just what does AlGore have to fear? Or does he know that the claims of his movie are just so many lies - as was his claim to have invented the Internet?

Screw the Debate, Make a film
By: bill , Thu, 29 May 2008 12:22:58 GMT

Hey, so if Al Gore won't debate anyone on GW perhaps someone should make a movie called "A Convenient Lie" and show how Al Gore and his investment buddies stand to profit from GW.

Blame the U.S.
By: Brad , Thu, 29 May 2008 11:44:29 GMT

I don't know how Al Gore missed this one. Since NASA,s robotic rovors have been on Mars, their polar caps have been receeding. Also the moons of Jupitor have shone signs of warming ever since we sent probes there. He's missing a great opportunity to blame us for spreading global warming to the rest of the planets. I have another theory for you Al, how about blaming that thing that rises every morning in the east. According to NASA the sun is in a warmer cycle and I would believe that more than us breathing as the problem.

Honda CR-Z the 'zero' emissions vehicle
By: Bill M. , Thu, 29 May 2008 11:30:25 GMT

Good work Andy O! What gets me is Honda - whose cars I really like - has come out with a "zero" emissions vehicle (I believe it is the CR-Z). The vehicle only emits "clean" water vapor... Little do they know - as you said - the biggest green house gas is WATER VAPOR! So eventually these boneheaded "scientists" will claim that water vapor emitted from fossil fuels is heating up the earth and then our bonehead government will have to label water vapor a pollutant.

It is time the silent majority spoke up and out about the climate change myths. It is only a way for communist/marxist idealogs to force their will, now on the entire world. They have to be challenged! It is their continued attempt to control freedom and progress of the "masses"! They must be stopped

A True Conservative Nomination?
By: J. Acre , Thu, 29 May 2008 10:45:30 GMT

Can we nominate Czech President Vaclav Klaus as a true conservative candidate for the President of the U.S.?
(I wonder if he would even want the job?) I know it is not possible, but there must be a better choice than what we are given...

Solange is SMARTER than most!
By: scarpelli , Thu, 29 May 2008 10:00:58 GMT

Solange was making a droll observation that sceptics are short of facts to support the lack of human involvement in GW. She was speaking SO TONGUE IN CHEEK that most of you missed it. You merely scanned her post and didn't get to the meat of her message. She was making the point that we are merely saying that GW does not exist, but we are not making our case as well as we might, since we are not offering FACTS that refute the GW believers.

Very good, Solange! You are a smart cookie!

Climate Change Is Real

Well... Sort of. Check this link and pay close attention to the bottom line in the caption:

Now, I'm cornfoozed... Humans are causing this???

CO2
By: Andy O , Thu, 29 May 2008 08:52:29 GMT

How is it the GW fanatics can't follow simple arithmetic? Take CO2 for example:

95% of the GHE(greenhouse effect)is by water vapor, and 99.999% of that is natural origin

So 5% is due to other greenhouse gases, including CO2

CO2 = 99.4% of that, but the other gases have more GHE than CO2

CO2's portion of the GHE caused by these other gases works out to about 72%

So CO2's contribution to the overall TOTAL GH effect is 3.6% (5% of 72%).

Of that about 3 percent is from human activity, other than breathing.

Meaning about 0.11 percent of the greenhouse effect is due to human releases of CO2.

IOW about 99.89 percent of the greenhouse effect has NOTHING to do with CO2 from human activity.

Factoring in the other greenhouse gases, the total human contribution to the greenhouse effect is about 0.3 percent.

IOW, about 99.7 percent of the greenhouse effect is due entirely to nature.

Including humans and other animals breathing

If ALL CO2 reductions called for by the Kyoto global warming treaty were implemented GW would be decreased 0.05 degrees by 2050

That assumes China would do it's part. Yeah, good luck on that. While costing trillions upon trillions possibly bankrupting some small countrie. And cutting nearly everyone's standard of living needlessly.

If we did TWICE as good Kyoto on CO2, it would reduce GW by 0.1 degrees. Yeah, THAT'LL "help".

Or another way to look at it, if we DOUBLED the CO2 in the air, GW would go up by a whopping one-tenth of ONE degree

Kyoto is a feel-good joke. Too bad the joke's on us.

Kudos for Klaus
By: Jack Flintstone , Thu, 29 May 2008 08:39:31 GMT

Thankfully a voice of sanity in a surreal world. I can't believe how far this global warming farce (at least to the man made CO2 portion of it) has gone. I am waiting for somebody to tell me what the correct average global temperature should be. Instead of really doing something about the environment, like building nuclear plants as well as plasma garbage disposal plants, we have idiot politicians instead coming up with a plan to trade carbon credits. The pendulum has got to start swinging back to reason soon, hopefully before the madness that has befallen Europe takes root here in the states.

THANK YOU GOD!
By: Brady , Thu, 29 May 2008 08:36:45 GMT

I'm so happy someone is talking about the REAL reasons why there's such a push for the world to go GREEN!

GREEN is a good word...it's about our green backs, our cash, our MONEY and our freedoms!!!!!!!

Klaus is a patriot and I appreciate what he's doing!

Global Warming Lies
By: Mark H. Sr. , Thu, 29 May 2008 08:11:31 GMT

This Global Bull has reached an absurd point. These immoral alarmist should be hauled into some kind of international court and made to prove their case and when, not if they cant they should be stripped of every dime they have conned the world out of. And then be brought-up on criminal charges for causing unwarranted world-wide turmoil.

Global Warming reactions
By: Mattthew , Thu, 29 May 2008 07:45:05 GMT

The belief that GW exist and that Algore will not debate the merits of the issue reminds me of the fights we used to get ito as kids on the issue of Santa Claus and the Easter Bunny being real. They also reminds me of the Radical Muslims that attacked European embassies for publishing political cartoons of Muhammed and yet they claim to be a religion of peace? Algore and his ilk want our money and power over us, That's all folks.

Refreshing Reality
By: Pam B , Thu, 29 May 2008 06:06:28 GMT

It is so refreshing to realize there are many sane people out there that didn't just fall for this propoganda to try to extract more money from those that cannot afford it, a fresh voice, that can state the truth because he is not going to be blacklisted in this country for disagreeing with this bogus panic bs.

I am constantly dumbfounded by how easy it is to convince the sheep to follow whatever agenda for more control is thrown out there! It absolutely worries me that there are so many that cannot see where this is leading us!

And what really ticks me off is the fact that the koolaid crowd doesn't realize that just because we don't subscribe to the Gw crap we don't care about the environment! That is such a false statement. We are just capable of researching beyond the hype crap and aren't receptive to following the crowd but thinking on our own!

I think this man is extremely intelligent and brave for standing his ground on this issue. I believe he is an example for those of us that can see beyond the hollywood hype to stand up against this bs. We need to do what we can to be heard before we allow this country to go completely communist!

I will say kudos to all of those in this forum that can actually think for themselves because I have often felt alone in not believing this bs.

P.S. I remember when I was graduating in 1979 being terrified that we were heading into the next ice age according to the scientists! It never transpired! The ice caps, etc... are thicker than ever - actual scientific proof for those doubters. It is almost June in Ohio and I am still using my woodburner to heat my house! Where the heck is the warming? It certainly isn't here, record cold tonight!

Why would anyone listen to someone that is just as the weatherman on tv, tomorrow, possible showers, sunshine, severe thunderstorms, snow, ice. They have all the basis covered! No one can predict the weather with accurate results because it changes constantly with the sun, etc.... Wake up koolaid crowd!

Right On!!
By: Mark , Thu, 29 May 2008 05:46:04 GMT

When will we have an American politician with the balls to stand up and challenge the lefists that are trying to cram this down our throats? "Why do they hate us?", they all asked following 9-11. Maybe because we are so concerned with the welfare of salamanders that we would rather to take food out of the mouths of babies in developing countries and put it in our gas tanks, then develope our own ample and known resources.

GW debate
By: John Adams , Thu, 29 May 2008 05:04:53 GMT

Why are a majority of the GW crowd emotionaly unstable hurting puppies? Does GW give them the control they so desperately need to make themselves feel significant?

Al Gore is a danger
By: Hobart , Thu, 29 May 2008 04:57:50 GMT

Al Gore would be a %^&*( fool except that he is playing a dangerous game. He would give away the sovereignty of countries to a global government with global laws, police, and prisons for those who don't follow the party line.

Stop Al Gore and his band of power grabbers!

The left wing fringe....
By: Bob , Thu, 29 May 2008 04:55:35 GMT

How funny...the left wing zombies are all upset!!!!! "How can you deny GW...look at the polar bears and, well yesterday was warmer than today.."...or "It must be true, Al Gore said it"..What idiots!!! Kinda like John Travolta telling people to reduce their carbon footprint while he flies around in his giant private airplane!!! How stupid are you people? You have NO proof about global warming (No, Gores movie provides NO proof) yet you run around like zombies spreading your crap!!

Czech Pres Klaus vs. Algore
By: LC , Thu, 29 May 2008 04:52:58 GMT

Amen brother, you have exposed the global warming scam for what it is - another form of totalitarian control.

Why should anybody care about Klaus's ridiculous rantings?
By: Cal , Thu, 29 May 2008 04:49:15 GMT

The scientific evidence overwhelmingly supports the premise that global warming is happening, caused predominantly by humans, and a major threat to us.

Klaus is clearly an ignorant fool, who had he lived in a different era would have been among those denouncing Galileo for saying that Earth is not the center of the universe. Either that, or as an old man who'll be long dead when the truly dangerous effects of global warming hit us, he just doesn't care and wants to help his big-polluting cronies rake in the cash now.

Global Whinning
By: BigBird , Thu, 29 May 2008 04:48:20 GMT

In the 1970's it was the new ice age now it is global warming. The GW moniker is getting a little tired. So now it is called Climate Change. Hey you have to love it. If it gets warmer they win ;if it get cooler they win. Go figure.
I believe in 8-10 year climate cycles. This is the way of life. Remember the Green Tree has RED Roots!

Lib lies and the lying liers that tell the lies
By: Anita , Thu, 29 May 2008 04:40:17 GMT

The moronic lib enviro-wackos here think anyone that disagrees with Global Warming / Climate Change or what ever it's called today wants to live in a dirty polluted world. Just because they don't fall for your radical alarmist rantings does not mean they like garbage. I've seen more Crap and pollution come from the likes of Algore and his followers.

So What
By: Anita , Thu, 29 May 2008 04:25:29 GMT

If you believe in Evolution then GW is nothing to be concerned about. The planet and all it's life forms are in a constant state of flux (change) which is part of life. Things adapt or die. That's why there are no T-Rex's around. It was a whole lot warmer back then. 65 million years ago some shallow sea waters were up to 90 degrees.

Vaclav Klaus
By: TR Bender , Thu, 29 May 2008 04:16:55 GMT

This guy should be president of the USA.
If he ran, I'd bet he would win.
