New Delhi - All foreign players, including Australians would be playing in Indian Premier League (IPL) Twenty20 matches scheduled to be held in the northern Indian city of Jaipur where a terrorist attack took place two days ago, organizers of the IPL said. The Australian media had reported that the country's cricketers Shane Warne, Shane Watson and Graeme Smith were worried by the blasts that killed 63 people on Tuesday and may return home.
All three Australians play for the Rajasthan Royals, the home team of Jaipur, capital of Rajasthan state.
The Jaipur team is currently on top of the IPL table and the Australians, specially Warne, have played a key role in their winning performances.
"All the Australians will play in Jaipur," IPL Commissioner Lalit Modi said. "They were a little perturbed by the blasts, but we assured them and explained the security measures."
Modi said the heightened security measures would be in place at the Sawai Mansingh stadium during IPL matches. The Rajasthan Royals are scheduled to play the Bangalore Royal Challengers on Saturday in the stadium that has the capacity to hold over 45,000 spectators.
Modi said he could not give details of the security arrangements, but people would not be allowed to carry bags, lighters or bottles while entering the stadium and every person would be frisked on their way in and out of the stadium.
The players area would be cordoned off and no one would have access, he said.
"All Australian players who will play Saturday are returning (from a holiday in Goa). They are comfortable with the security arrangements," Modi said.
