London - Chelsea have beat Manchester United to the signing of highly-rated Porto full-back Jose Bosingwa, the Portuguese club confirmed Monday. The right-back, who is noted for his surging overlaps, is a regular Portugal international.
"FC Porto wishes to inform the market that a deal has been reached in principle with Chelsea for the definitive sale of the rights of
Jose Bosingwa for the price of 20.5 million Euros (31.7 million dollars)," said a statement on their website.
"The club also announces that the agreement of this transfer will be made formal once the player has passed medical tests."
The DR Congo-born player was in London on Monday to discuss personal teams and undergo a medical.
