Hamburg - Jurica Vranjes of Werder Bremen will miss the last two matches of the German Bundesliga football season as he was on Friday banned for two games by the ruling body DFB over a red card offence. Vranjes was sent off in the final minute of Bremen's 1-0 win at SV Hamburg on Wednesday for pushing Hamburg's Timothee Atouba. He was also fined 5,000 euros (7,700 dollars) by the DFB.
Vranjes will miss Bremen's last two matches against Hanover 96 and Bayer Leverkusen. Also suspended for the Hanover game is team-mate Frank Baumann who got his marching orders for a second bookable offence in Hamburg.
Bremen lie second in the league behind champions Bayern Munich, but need to hold Schalke 04, who trail by two points, at bay to get direct entry into the European Champions League group stage.
