Mexico City - Mexican President Felipe Calderon met with World Bank President Robert Zoellick Wednesday, to discuss climate change and his government's efforts on the subject. Mexican authorities said in a statement that Zoellick - in his first visit to Latin America as World Bank president - is set to sign a deal under which the World Bank would grant Mexico 501 million dollars to carry out "the national strategy on climate change."
Calderon said in May last year that the fight against global warming, by addressing issues such as clearing forests, is a priority for Mexico.
Zoellick was set to leave Mexico on Wednesday, at the end of a two-day visit. He was travelling on to Colombia.
