Taipei - Taiwan's Chunghwa Telecom Co and Vietnam's Viettel Corp have formed a joint venture in Vietnam to provide Internet Data Centre (IDC) service to Vietnamese clients, Chunghwa Telecom said on Wednesday. The joint venture, Viettel-CHT Co. Ltd, has an initial investment of 30 million US dollars and is expected to begin operation in the third quarter of 2008. It is 70 per cent owned by Chunghwa Telecom and 30 per cent by Viettel, Chunghwa Telecom said in a news release. The joint venture will serve Vietnam-based foreign and Taiwanese firms as well as Vietnamese firms. It will not only offer IDC service, but also provide total solutions for network monitoring, security, load-balancing, and disaster recovery, the news release said.
