Los Angeles - A family court on Tuesday granted Britney Spears more visits with her children, after a lawyer for her ex- husband Kevin Federline cited progress in her behaviour since her father was granted conservatorship of her affairs two months ago. Spears appeared in court but gave no comment to reporters as she left smiling after the closed-door hearing.
No details of the expanded visitation rights were initially released. Federline lawyer Mark Vincent Kaplan said the longer visits are "recognition of the progress that has been made."
Spears was stripped of all visitation rights to the two boys after she refused to hand over one of them following a supervised visit in January that led to her being held in a mental hospital for observation. Since that debacle, her condition had dramatically improved, Kaplan said.
"What was a seemingly daily situation in extreme flux has been stabilized," he told reporters.
A month ago, Spears was granted limited times for supervised visits, which have now been expanded.
"The order that was in place has remained in place, but there has been a graduated expansion of time," Kaplan said.
Following the hearing, a statement from Spears' parents read, "We are so pleased with Britney's progress, and we are very appreciative of the court's recognition of this progress."
A progress hearing will be held on July 15, and another hearing will be held in August to review "how the modified custody arrangement has evolved."
