Germany's "Dance of the Volcanoes"Frankfurt - The Eifel region in western Germany is providing the opportunity to find out more about the fascinating subject of volcanoes and volcanology.
From May 25 May to June 8, a series of tours, lectures, films and activities will take place as part of "Terramaargica 2008".
The programme begins with the "Dance of the Volcanoes" in the town of Hillesheim with flamenco music and a lecture on geology.
Children can find out more about fossils and make their own lava candlesticks.
Visitors will also get closer to the region's dormant volcanoes with a series of treks and bicycle tours.

Riders prepare for tour over the Alps =
Hamburg - This year's Tour Transalp bicycle trip across the Alps is taking place from July 6 to 12.
Over seven day-long stages, 1,100 cyclists will travel from Bavaria in southern Germany to the Adriatic, according to the tour's organisers in Hamburg.
Participants will cover about 860 kilometres and must climb almost 19,000 metres.
The tour begins in the town of Oberammergau before travelling to Soelden in Austria's Oetztal valley and up to the 2,500 metre-high Timmelsjoch mountain.
Riders then continue to Brixen, St. Vigil and Sexten in Italy's southern Tyrol region.
The final stages cover Falcade, Feltre and Bibione. Each stage begins at 9 am.

Hamburg - Gothenburg in Sweden is holding an international garden exhibition June 28 to September 28.
Visitors can marvel at the display of rare flora from East Asia at the city's botanical garden as well 60,000 flowering bulb plants, according to Sweden's tourist office in Hamburg.
Four of the city's gardens will open their doors to the public free of charge where the work of landscape gardeners from all over the world will be on display.

Denmark holds kayak race for amateurs and professionals =
Hamburg - Water sport enthusiasts visiting the Danish island of Fuenen can take part in a kayak regatta in this year's "Sea Challenge Fyn" July 27 to August 2 now in its fifth year.
The race begins in the harbour town of Svendborg and then proceeds in seven daily stages around the island.
The 300 kilometre long race passes the coastal towns of Faaborg, Assens, Middlefart, Bogense, Kerteminde and Nyborg.
The fee for registration through June 30 is 245 euros, from July 1 until July 27 when the race starts it is 270 euros.
The fee includes food, baggage transport and accommodation in schools or sports halls and a T-shirt for people who sign up by June 30.
The race is also open for inriggers where one person steers, two row, a spokeswoman told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa.
