Los Angeles - Porn movie company Vivid Entertainment is to release a sex tape allegedly showing the late guitar god Jimi Hendrix frolicking in bed with two women, according to an announcement Tuesday. The Los Angeles-based adult entertainment outfit said it had obtained the footage of the music legend shot in a hotel room about 40 years ago from a memorabilia collector.
The footage features Hendrix engaging in various sexual acts with two women, according to a statement released by Vivid, which claimed that several experts had authenticated the footage.
Hendrix died of a drug overdose in 1970 and was renowned for safeguarding his privacy.

Mel Gibson returns for screen role
Los Angeles - Mel Gibson is to return for a screen role after a six-year break that saw him concentrating on directing the movies The Passion of the Christ and Apocalypto, Variety reported Tuesday.
Gibson, 52, will star as a police investigator in the indie movie Edge of Darkness, based on a 1985 British mini-series. The role will be Gibson's first since he adopted a low profile following his infamous, July 2006 anti-Semitic rant, which occurred during an arrest for drunk driving.
In the movie, Gibson will play a Boston police detective investigating the death of his activist daughter. The probe leads him into a swamp of corruption, conspiracy and nuclear espionage involving the CIA and British spy agency MI5.
The film is being produced by Graham King, who won an Oscar for The Departed. The screenplay is by William Monahan, who also won an Oscar for his work on The Departed. The movie will be directed by Martin Campbell, whose recent work includes Casino Royale.

Singer Weiland to be jailed for drunk driving
Los Angeles - Scott Weiland, frontman for the Stone Temple Pilots, has pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor drunken driving charge and was sentenced to eight days in jail.
The 40-year-old rocker entered the plea through his attorney in Los Angeles Superior Court and was sentenced to four years' probation and an 18-month alcohol programme. It was the second DUI conviction for Weiland, who has been dogged by substance problems throughout his career.
Weiland must serve the jail time by May 28 but is scheduled to take the stage May 17 for his group's first live show together since 2002.
Weiland came to fame as the lead singer of 1990s Stone Temple Pilots, who regrouped after Weiland split this month from Velvet Revolver, a band featuring former members of Guns N' Roses.

Spears to reprise TV role
Los Angeles - Former pop princess Britney Spears is taking another step on her comeback trail. She will join the cast of US sitcom How I Met Your Mother for a second episode, which will be filmed later this week and screen on May 12.
Spears plays the role of Abby the secretary in the series, in which she made her first appearance on March 24, giving the show an extra 3 million viewers.
Spears, 26, started focusing on her acting skills after her father was granted temporary conservatorship over her, following her admission into a psychiatric ward.

Los Angeles - The internet is buzzing with stories that Mariah Carey is engaged to boyfriend Nick Cannon. Though the singing superstar has been spotted wearing a large diamond engagement ring on the appropriate finger, Cannon is refusing to discuss the issue.
