Istanbul - A Turkish soldier was killed as the Turkish Army continued to attack the banned Kurdish Workers' Party (PKK) Saturday, CNN Turk news channel reported. The soldier died on Cudi mountain in the south-eastern province of Sirnak, bringing to three the number of soldiers killed since fighting started on Friday.

Sirnak lies on Turkey's borders with Iraq and Syria.

The army claimed to have killed 240 PKK fighters during a week- long offensive in February against the organization's camps in northern Iraq.

The European Union also views the PKK as a terrorist organization.

A total of 27 soldiers were killed in the February action that concentrated on the autonomous Kurdish region of northern Iraq.
