WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 DC-FPED-VII-May19-21
WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2009 Force Protection Equipment
Demonstration (FPED VII) will be held at Stafford County Regional Airport,
Stafford, VA, and Marine Corps Base, Quantico, VA, next May 19-21. The FPED
VII theme is: Impacting the Global War on Terror.
The demonstration is the largest event of its kind featuring live
presentations of commercial off-the-shelf equipment solutions to current and
evolving force protection and physical security challenges. More than 600
exhibitors will demonstrate nearly 4,000 items of equipment designed to reduce
vulnerabilities to terrorism, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs),
and enhance the overall security of U.S. and allied interests. All items
demonstrated must be available for procurement and testing within 90 days of
the demonstration.
The demonstration was initiated by the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of
Staff as a result of the bombing at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia in 1996.
Held every two years since 1997, it is sponsored by the Department of Defense
Physical Security Equipment Action Group, The Joint Staff, and the Technical
Support Working Group, and executed by the Product Manager, Force Protection
Systems.
In addition to equipment displays and demonstrations at the airport,
presentations involving high explosives and live fire will be on ranges at
Marine Corps Base, Quantico.
The event provides leaders, security planning and procurement officials
and other decision-makers from the Department of Defense, other federal
departments and agencies, and selected state and local law enforcement, as
well as other first-responder agencies, opportunities to see currently
available force protection equipment. The Force Protection Equipment
Demonstration is not open to the general public. It is open to defense, law
enforcement and other first-responder personnel and to media representatives
who cover defense, law enforcement and first-responder operations, management
and training.
Registration is required for everyone attending the event. Online
registration will become available on December 15, 2008. Online registration
