WHAT:

The 2008 Consumer Electronics Association's (CEA)(R) Industry Forum is a four-day conference designed to inform, connect and educate consumer technology professionals, industry analysts and media on the latest trends, technologies and legislation affecting the industry.

 
Media highlights include:
 

-- i-stage, CEA's new technology competition, will kick off on Monday, Oct. 20. Witness live judging and selection of a winner from among the most innovative and influential technology companies as they compete for $50,000 and free booth space at the 2009 International CES(R).

 

-- The 2008 Holiday Sales and Forecasts Presentation will take place at 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 20. Listen as CEA market analysts reveal new CE industry projections for the upcoming holiday season and the hottest holiday buys.

 

-- Kevin Kelly, Senior Maverick of Wired Magazine, will deliver a luncheon keynote address Monday, August 20, at Mandalay Bay. Kelly is founding executive editor of Wired and author of several books including, "Out of Control: The New Biology of Machines, Social Systems, and the Economic World." Kelly will also serve as a judge for the i-stage competition.

 

-- The Hon. Shelley Berkley (D-NV) will deliver a luncheon keynote address, Tuesday, Oct. 21, at noon. Representative Berkley will discuss the final days of the race for the Oval Office.

 

-- The CE Hall Fame Dinner, open to press, takes place on Tuesday evening, Oct. 21, where 12 new members of the CE Hall of Fame will be inducted and honored for their groundbreaking ideas and ongoing efforts to expand and improve the consumer electronics industry. Honorees include Joe Clayton, Eddy Hartenstein, Richard Sharp and developers of the first cell phone, Martin Cooper and Donald Linder.

 

-- Joe Pine, internationally known author and co-founder of Strategic Horizons LLP, will deliver the opening keynote at 9 a.m., Wednesday, Oct. 22. His latest book, "Authenticity: What Consumers Really Want," was recently featured by TIME Magazine as a part of the, "10 Ideas That Are Changing The World."

 

-- A diverse range of interactive conference sessions will be featured at CEA's Industry Forum addressing issues including, "Going Green"- making your company environmentally friendly, the importance of social networking, technology on-the-go, and potential for growth in today's economy.
