Berne - The famous Montreux Jazz Festival revealed its star-studded line-up Thursday, including Quincy Jones, Pete Doherty's Babyshambles, The Kills, Jill Scott, Deep Purple and Leonard Cohen. The 42nd edition of the world-famous festival takes place from July 4 to 19 with British jazz singer Erykah Badu one of the first up out of 90 acts kicking off a fortnight of music that also features Lenny Kravitz, Nazareth, Alicia Keys, Sheryl Crow, Joan Baez, Gnarls Barkley and Travis.

Veteran Canadian singer/songwriter Leonard Cohen commands some of the highest prices from 140 francs (139 dollars) up to 350 for a seat. Otherwise prices range from 65 francs to 380.

Tickets for the Quincy Jones gala night on July 15, celebrating the music impresario and record producer's 75 years, cost between 160 and 380 francs. The evening features Petula Clark, Al Jarreau, Herbie Hancock and Nana Mouskouri among others.

As well as the main programme, there will be music and DJs on the fringe as well as jazz concerts to entertain passengers on cruise ships on Lake Geneva in addition to a number of music trains running up the mountain side behind the town.

Some 95,000 tickets have gone on sale for an event that attracted 220,000 people last year.
