Tokio Hotel singer condemned to one week's silence

Hamburg - Bill Kaulitz, singer in the German pop quartet Tokio Hotel, is to shut up for at least a week at doctors' orders as he recuperates from a Sunday operation on his throat. The operation, which has alarmed teenage girls throughout Germany, France, Italy and other nations, removed growths on the 18-year-old's vocal cords which threatened to turn him from singer to squawker. Producer David Jost of the Tokio Hotel management said the operation by "the best doctor in the business" went according to plan, but admitted Monday there was no guarantee spiky-haired Kaulitz's voice would emerge the same as before. The location of the hospital where he was recovering Monday was kept top secret for fear it would be mobbed by shrieking fans. Guitarist Tom Kaulitz, the singer's twin brother, gave him a mini-blackboard so he could communicate by writing for the next 10 days. A tour by the foursome to Europe and North America was called off while Kaulitz recovers, but promoters say a May 1 concert in Washington will probably mark the group's return to the stage. An announcement by French municipal officials last week that Tokio Hotel would perform on April 1 at Vincennes, a suburb of Paris, turned out to be an April Fool's Day joke.

I can't stand the wording in this passage either. It's so mean. New reports like this should learn to have an objective attitude, not sounding like it is cursing or laughing at someone.

I really did not appreciate the "turn him from singer to squawker" passage of the article. If the article would quote the source/news agency appropriately, it would be possible to get to them and ask them to change the wording.
