Real Madrid: Estadio Bernabeu to host 2010 Champions League final

Madrid - The 2010 Champions League final is to be played at Madrid's Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Spanish champions Real Madrid announced on Friday. UEFA's executive committee, at a meeting in Vaduz, Liechtenstein, were due to announce Friday the venues for the Champions League and UEFA Cup finals of 2010 and 2011.

It will be the fourth European Cup or Champions League final to be

played in the Bernabeu, following the finals of 1957, 1969 and 1980.

Bernabeu, situated in the Chamartin district of Madrid, was also the stage for the 1982 World Cup final.

The stadium was inaugurated in 1947 and named after Santiago Bernabeu, the dynamic and successful Real president from 1943 to 1978.
