Copenhagen - Three men arrested in terrorist raids in Denmark last year were charged Tuesday as terror suspects, accused among other things of bomb-making. Two of the men, aged 22 and 21, were suspected of "preparing one or several bombs for use in a terror act" and for making the explosive triacetone triperoxide (TATP), the prosecution said.
The two had also allegedly tested their explosive, but the charge sheet did not detail where the alleged test took place.
The two, who were not named, were arrested with six other suspects in Copenhagen in September when the Danish security intelligence service (PET) raided several locations in and around the capital.
The other six were later released, but have not been ruled out of the investigation, Danish media reported.
A third defendant, a 23-year-old man arrested in November, was charged with inciting the abduction of Danish nationals in foreign countries in order to secure the release of the two, who have been in custody since September. He was also not named.
A similar raid in October 2005 resulted in seven arrests but only four were brought to trial. Three were subsequently freed while a fourth suspect was sentenced in February 2007 to seven years in prison.
