Tokyo - Japanese cosmetic company Shiseido Co plans to build a fully-owned plant in Vietnam and begin making skin-care products, the company said Tuesday. Japan's largest cosmetic company was expected to invest about 4 billion yen (40 million dollars) for its first South-East Asian unit to meet growing demand in the region.
Shiseido Vietnam Inc would be established in April to start production as early as December 2009.
The factory would be located in an industrial park in the country's southern province of Dong Nai.
As Shiseido intends to boost its overseas sales mainly in China, it has increased the production capacity at its Shanghai plant since September 2007.
