Bucharest - Romanian border police Friday stopped six German anti-NATO activists at the Calafat border crossing and were being held while officials decided whether to let them transit the country, the Mediafax agency reported. The report said the Germans were driving in cars en route to Germany from Greece. Border officials found propaganda materials including CDs and banners, aimed against NATO and globalisation.
The four men and two women were being held while Romanian internal security SRI officials were deciding whether to let them continue on their trip to Germany or whether they may pose a security risk.
Bucharest is to host the annual NATO summit meeting April 2-4. Calafat, on the Bulgarian-Romanian border, is located some 200 kilometres south-west of Bucharest.
