JPMorgan in talks to acquire Bear: FT

NEW YORK (Reuters) - JPMorgan Chase & Co <JPM.N> is in talks to acquire Bear Stearns Cos Inc <BSC.N> after teaming up with the Federal Reserve to provide emergency financing to the investment bank, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - JPMorgan Chase & Co is in talks to acquire Bear Stearns Cos Inc after teaming up with the Federal Reserve to provide emergency financing to the investment bank, the Financial Times reported on Sunday.

Other groups, including private equity firm JC Flowers, are also believed to be looking at buying some Bear assets, the newspaper reported.

A spokesman for Bear Stearns declined to comment. Representatives for JPMorgan and JC Flowers were not immediately available to comment.
