Los Angeles - Actor Edward Norton is producing a documentary on US presidential hopeful Barack Obama, enlisting the production team behind hits like Sacha Baron Cohen's Borat and Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11, Variety reported Wednesday. Shooting for the film already began before Obama's declaration of his candidacy to become the Democratic Party's 2008 presidential nominee, after Obama raised his national profile with a memorable speech during the Democratic National Convention in 2004.

"We were all so struck by Barack's speech and talked about how exciting it was to see someone from our generation, not our parents', make his presence felt in such an inspiring way," Norton told Daily Variety. "It was akin to the way I remembered my dad describing how he felt when Kennedy gave his inauguration speech."

The film's production started with Obama's 2006 trip to Africa and the cameras have been rolling ever since. Norton said the filmmakers will follow Obama through the duration of his White House run, so no timetable or budget has yet been set.

Jodie Foster stalker arrested

New York - A man who allegedly plagued actress Jodie Foster with threatening letters has been arrested on charges of mailing bomb threats mentioning the actress to a Los Angeles airport.

Michael Smegal, 42, of Massachusetts was charged on Tuesday with mailing the threat, which included the words "Jodie Foster" and "going to be a gas bomb this building (sic)," to the Van Nuys Airport in December last year.

Police claim Smegal sent a further 100 almost identical letters - some of which also mentioned Foster - to the addresses of celebrities, businesses and airports.

Prosecutors say Foster first began receiving the anonymous letters and packages in 2004. If convicted, Smegal faces up to 10 years in prison and a 250,000 dollar fine.

Harry Potter star buys new pad in New York

New York - Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe has splashed out 4.9 million dollars on a Manhattan apartment, just months after the 18 year old British actor bought another New York property for 4.3 million dollars.

Radcliffe currently rents out the loft-style two-bedroom apartment he bought in November in Soho for 20,000 dollars a month. His new pad is a 250-square-metre apartment in the fashionable West Village. The apartment could serve as a base for Radcliffe when he makes his Broadway debut in Equus in September.

Rosemary's Baby set for rebirth

Los Angeles - Paramount Studios is to produce a remake of the classic horror movie Rosemary's Baby, according to The Hollywood Reporter Wednesday.

The original movie was made in 1968 by Roman Polanski and starred Mia Farrow, John Cassavetes and Ruth Gordon, who won an Oscar for her role.

Adapted from a best-selling novel by playwright-author Ira Levin, the story follows a young couple who move into a gothic New York apartment, where they are befriended by their elderly neighbours.

After the woman becomes mysteriously pregnant, she discovers that the neighbors actually are part of a coven of witches and that her husband has allowed her to be impregnated by the devil in exchange for a successful career.
