Washington - Senator Barack Obama was the likely winner of the latest Democratic presidential primary in Mississippi on Tuesday over rival Senator Hillary Clinton, major television networks reported based on exit polling. Broadcaster FOX projected Obama had won the southern state, but rivals CNN and MSNBC said exit polling gave Obama a lead, but not enough to call the election immediately after polls closed at 8pm (0000 GMT Wednesday). Obama, 46, and Clinton, 60, have been locked in a tight battle for the Democratic nomination and both candidates had already arrived Tuesday in Pennsylvania, the largest state in the remaining contest, which will vote on April 22.
