Hanover, Germany - Samsung stressed Monday plans to boost sales of its laptops and displays to corporate customers, with the South Korean electronics group saying this was the fastest growing area of its business. Jongwoo Park, president for digital media, was speaking on the eve of the CeBIT computing show in Hanover, Germany, where the emphasis this year is on computers and software for corporate users rather than for consumers.
Park said sales of the company's devices to business users were rising by an average 30 per cent annually.
"We aim to advance to the front rank of information technology suppliers," said Park in Hanover. Samsung would invest more in service and its infrastructure.
He noted that Samsung had become the world's biggest manufacturer of computer monitors.
One of the company's new products at CeBIT is a dual monitor. The main display has a second, 7-inch screen flexibly attached to it.
The company will also be showing at the March 4-9 fair a new organic light-emitting diode (OLED) television with a 32-inch display. The OLED technology uses less electricity than other flat screen technologies.
"All the companies are investing a lot to make the production of these displays more cost effective," Park said. The displays are seen as suited to mobile devices because they are thin and flexible and use less power.
