Hong Kong - Hong Kong stocks fell by more than 3 per cent Monday as declines on Wall Street and unease over the US economy weighed heavily on markets across Asia. The Hang Seng Index ended the day down 746.7 points, or 3.07 per cent, on Friday's close, ending the day at 23,584.97 points. Turnover was 81.1 billion Hong Kong dollars. Analysts said losses on Wall Street on Friday after Asian markets closed for the week and deepening concern at the prospect of a US recession contributed to Monday's Asia-wide sell-off.
