Los Angeles -The telecast of the Academy Awards was viewed by the smallest audience on record, with the writers strike and the non-blockbuster movies in contention being blamed, reported Variety on Monday. Sunday's broadcast of the Oscars from the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood was seen by 32 million people, down sharply from last year's 40 million.
The awards show hosted by Jon Stewart was lower than 2003's viewership of 33 million which was broadcast just days after the country went to war in Iraq.
