Amman - A German technology exhibition on renewable energy was officially launched Thursday at the German-Jordanian University, the German embassy said in a statement. The event is designed to update Jordanian officials and people on the "most recent developments in various branches of the industry, ranging from solar thermal applications to photovoltaics and wind power," the statement said.
The exhibition, organized by the German Energy Agency and the Germany embassy in Amman, will tour the kingdom during 2008 to keep a maximum number of people informed about the latest technology of renewable resources, it added.
Jordan is considered one of the world's poorest countries in terms of natural resources and relies heavily on hydrocarbon imports which place a high financial burden on the economy.
